Week 10 – Run 2
Ran 6 miles in 55:29 with an average pace of 9:15/mile. (Treadmill)
This would be considered my first successful treadmill run. It went surprisingly well, I knew how many tracks and how long my playlist was on my mp3 player and didn’t even look at the recordings on the treadmill until I was almost done. I picked up the pace a little too, I am supposed to run around 9:30/mile but I just felt real good. Then again it might be time to increase my speed again.
Week 10 – Run 1
Ran 6 1/2 ish km in somewhere under an hour.
Overly not a hard run but I joined some friends and just ran whatever they ran at the pace that they kept. I didn’t bring my watch because I didn’t want the distraction so I don’t know exactly how far or how fast we ran.
Week 9
Week 9 was kind of a bust. My watch froze up for a few days, I tried to implement treadmill runs and I wasn’t feeling well at the end of the week. Over all I have nothing to record. This is disappointing.
Week 8 – Run 4
Ran 4 miles in 38:32 with an average pace of 9:38/mile. (-11 Celcius)
My leg was bothering me before I left and the pain remained throughout my run, couldn’t seem to shake it. It was slower than I had hoped but still satisfactory. I don’t know how to feel about my long run tomorrow, I’ll be running 16 miles. It should take me about 2:30:00 but we’ll see.
Week 8 – Run 3
Ran 8 miles in 1:15:39 with an average pace of 9:27/mile. (-13 Celcius)
Everything went surprisingly well. I didn’t plan on running it this fast but my heart rate % stayed quite low so once again I ignored the watch and just ran what was comfortable. Around mile 6 I began to feel my knee again, just slightly. The temperature really started to bother me today. I think I got a chill early on at work and still haven’t quite shook it yet.
Other than that, good run. Enjoyed it.
Week 8 – Run 2
Ran 3 miles in 27:06 with an average pace of 9:02/mile. (-15 Celcius)
Good run, was supposed to run 9:30/mile but just ignored the watch and ran. Despite my 0:28/mile increase my heart rate still floated around 75% of max and for the most part stayed below it.
Week 8 – Run 1
Ran 6 miles in 59:09.
By far not a fast run. My knee really started to bother me around mile 3, I had been successfully ignoring it until then. The pain came and went throughout the rest of the run. Nice night though.
It’s Finally Here
So this is it. After a long struggle of trying to set up this website while not having the blag-o-sphere, it is finally here. Voila!
The sole purpose of this site is to inform those whom are interested in my running experience. I’ve been running since the middle of June 2009 and plan to run my first marathon in Calgary on May 30, 2010. I’m teamed up with the Canadian Diabetes Association and have committed to raising $500 for them. My goal, however, is to raise a minimum of $1000.
On December 8th 2009 I began my 25 week marathon training program and so far so good. I’ve missed the odd day due to health or injury but all in all I’m optimistic that I’ll be able to complete the marathon in under 4 hours. This is no record setting pace but for someone who will have been running for less than a year, this is a respectable time.
I’m excited, I’m pumped and I’m focused.
Run For Yourself
“For someone who has quit jobs, left relationships, forgotten dreams, and often quit when the going got tough, running has been the exception. I haven’t quit. I’m not going to quit, even if I take a break. And in that I take enormous pride.” – John Bingham
I know I’ve only been running for about seven months now but this is how I feel. It’s not just about the fitness, it’s not about the final destination or even about bragging rights. Running is about how it makes you feel. It’s extremely therapeutic. I never expected to enjoy it as much as I do but I know that I will never stop. It gives me energy, satisfaction and removes stress.
